Last weekend I visited a couple friends in Santa Fe.  This was my first trip to New Mexico, so my list of states-yet-to-visit has now been reduced to Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Maine, and Vermont.  I didn't exactly pick the best weekend weather-wise, as it was 65 F in New Jersey, but 45 F in New Mexico, but at least it was sunny.  Walked around one of the local trails, checked out the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, had some good Thai food, and just bummed around.

Getting back to NJ turned into a hassle.  Santa Fe to Minneapolis was no problem, but the 6:55 PM flight to Newark was delayed 3 hours due to the incoming plane being delayed out of Missoula.  Not a problem, except getting into Newark at 2:00 AM means the trains are no longer running to Princeton.  Problem.  Instead, I rebooked an early flight on Monday morning.

And now I'm officially in my "off" week from work.  Yesterday, I did nothing because either I caught some flu-bug or got food poisoning, so my stomach was really messed up.  All better now, though.  Today, I had French class in the morning and saw Watchmen this afternoon.  I'd say it was good...kinda boring in the middle.  The sex scene was highly stupid.  Maybe it was true to the comic, I don't know.  If so, then that part of the comic was stupid, too.

Basketball tonight.  Our best scorer is out for the season due to a spring training jumping-over-a-fence injury that involved...you guessed it...alcohol.  The team got wrecked tonight.  The playoffs start next week, which will mercifully end the season.

Pictures!

Here's every building in Santa Fe: 1 or 2 stories, brown, rounded edges.  I guess it's a rule.

Fence by the Cathedral, which was covered up for renovations.

Post Office nerds

Addison, daughter of the friends (Adam and Lorissa) I was visiting.  I met them on the Italy tour, and Adam joined me on the Prague tour.

She was a trooper hiking on a chilly and windy day.

The one exception to the brown building rule, a gleaming white Greek Orthodox Church on the hill in the distance.

Near the top of one of the local mountains, looking down on Santa Fe.

A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Aspen.

The final sunset.

I wondered what your really thought of Santa Fe. Next time you come hopefully the weather will allow us to really go hiking.

I did like it, and was especially impressed by the concentration of arts culture, but the architecture is a bit uniform for my taste. Nice town, though.

Nice Dumb and Dumber reference. I almost missed it.

Unbelievably, I don't own that movie. It will be arriving soon via Netflix.
